Cable

Most of the cable systems that are in use nowadays are the fiber-coaxial hybrid networks. They are the same as the ones that deliver the internet for broadband cable to your house. But before the signal arrives at your home, it goes through a communication satellite into the distribution of your cable provider center in the form of radio waves.

When at the headend, the signals for the radio are then modulated for distribution over a cable or fiber optic, transmitting the signal with high speed over a physical network. Before the signal is transmitted to the house, it gets modulated a local node for it to continue over the coaxial cable. The destination is a set-top box, IPTV system, or directly to the television.

Satellite

Cable providers pick satellite broadcasts during their initial stages as they head to their distribution network. It happens before the signal is sent over a line that is physical to the final users.  When it comes to satellite tv, it broadcasts using signals that are wireless from the satellite, ensuring the end-user receives them via a satellite dish.

From the satellite dish, the signals than either travel directly to the set-top box of the end-user or to a dedicated IPTV system headend. It is then decoded, and then the content is displayed. Just like the cable tv, channels for the satellite tv are encrypted to prevent uncontrolled access.

You now have the option to pick which television network type you think will be the best for you and your family in terms of convenience and the programming of channels. Most people tend to like IPTV streaming due to the various options that it offers.
